Spotlight Artist – Emilio G

Emilio G, real name Miel Goebel, is a fresh new producer from the Netherlands who was discovered by Housepital Records. Since getting support from the likes of Eric Morillo, Ferry Corsten and Jacob van Hage it seems only fair we check out this new DJ.

 

In Emilio G's latest new song, Lynx, one feels a sense of a musical wildcat on the prowl, as the pulsating beat encircles, as if you’ve fallen prey. The nature of the track is perfectly reflected in the title, as the song displays a soft side with light smooth beats, yet shows its feral side with hard fist-pumping club-pleasing drops. Like a Lynx it changes pace surprisingly quickly and then fades back into the darkness, slowly and deliberately.

The second track to go under the spotlight is his unofficial remix of Love Island by Fatboy Slim. Taking the quirky traits and the main infrastructure of the original, Emilio has added a resonating killer beat on top. However, it’s the more subtle adjustment and additions that ratchet the track up a notch, inserting alien drones and teasing out the more quirky noises of the original that fit better with the more electro-house nature of the remix. The result is a nicely rounded translation of the original, adeptly updated to give more of a kick.
