September 2013 Albums Guide: Part 1
Okay, so August
was a great month for album releases with Ellie Goulding releasing her
electro-pop elixir, Halcyon Days. Another huge release was the highly
anticipated debut album from long-term Emeli Sande collaborator, Naughty Boy.
However, if you thought that was a lot to get your teeth into, you should see
the stacks of new albums waiting in the store rooms for September. It seems
that this month is particularly popular, wedged nicely between the end of the summer
festival season and the beginning of the rustic autumnal season.

If You Wait is everything we’d expect from London Grammar. It emanates an aura of raw talent and untainted purity that feels 100% natural for the trio. They lead us gently by the hand, with soft yet self-assured vocals and measured productions, from the frosty winters of Hey Now to the tropical summers of When We Were Young. We are constantly left trying to work out how we feel about their music. Their sound is so pure and uncompromising you are constantly stuck between respect and adoration for the group.

Fenech Soler – Rituals
Rituals is the highly anticipated second
album from four piece band, Fenech Soler. The songs released so far from the
album have been a selection of well-toned pieces displaying plenty of
substance. The new single, Last Forever
has an amazing easy-going air to it, while All
I Know is a rolling electronic escapade of focused energy. The album also
contains darker tunes like Maiyu and Somebody, which are wonderfully mellow numbers.
Our favourite track is Last Forever,
but in all honesty, all of the songs we’ve heard so far are good and we haven’t
heard a bad song yet.Expected UK Release Date: 29/09/13
The 1975 - The 1975
The 1975 are
a band you might think of as new to the scene, only releasing their first EP last
year. However, a dig around in the bands past will in fact show them to have been
active for just over 10 years, working out the knots in their sound in preparation
for their debut album. The record is an extensive work, with the deluxe version
boasting 16 core tracks boosted by a further 23 songs, which are a mixture of
remixes and previous EP material. Even though some of the album tracks are
simply reworked versions of each other, this is an absolutely staggering number
for the price. There is no doubt that this album is a true labour of love for
the band, and songs like Chocolate,
Robbers, The City and Settle Down
have raised our expectations to a fever pitch.
Hot Natured – Different Sides of the Sun
Jamie Jones,
Lee Foss, Luca C and Ali Love are the quartet who make up electronic group Hot
Natured. Recently they have been responsible for some of the most relaxing and
luxurious releases of the year. These range from the amazingly melodic Reverse Skydiving to the ponderous Benediction. Expected UK Release Date: 02/09/13
