Matrix &
Futurebound ft Baby Blue –
Magnetic Eyes
Earlier this
year Matrix & Futurebound launched themselves into the UK Top 30 with epic
anthem, All I Know, making them one
of the very few DnB artists to be able to stake a position within the national charts.
It was up the duo to do their genre proud and produce a respectable and
successful sequel to the smash, while also ensuring that they did not repeat
themselves in the process.
Despite this pressure,
they have managed to produce a song with a very different feel and design to the
previous single; this is partly helped by the female vocals of Baby Blue who adds a brilliant, sweet ambience to the song. The
only con of how the vocal has been used within the song is that it does seem to
slightly dominate over the beat and doesn't leave the stunning productions of
Matrix & Futurebound as much room to breathe as they possibly deserve. This
is a small factor however. The duo have mastered the art of entwining vocals
into their bass melodies with a distinct well-blended outcome full of uplifting
power.
The duo might
have just pinpointed the future of commercial DnB. This tune has not been
created to solely smash the clubs and stay in the underground, no, this record
along with its commercial friendly vocals, is meant to bring the genre to the
masses. It isn’t as if they have sold out and made a purely pop-focused record,
don’t worry, they have stayed true to their genre and instead brought DnB to
the doorstep of the charts. There is no doubt that this song is constructed to
please a wider audience, taking the radio and TV stations for a rigorous ride
and also looking set to cause some mayhem in the charts.
