Rita Ora – Shine Ya Light

Shine Ya Light is the third single (or fourth if you include Hot Right Now as a single) taken from Ora, Rita Ora’s number one album, an album which already includes three number one singles, and now possibly a fourth! The new single seems to be collated from a mixture of styles, while still maintaining links to the material she has already produced this year.
Rita Ora keeps with the same steady, deliberate and powerful pace that she demonstrated in RIP and How We Do, but the beat is drastically different. The production is built up before it steadily cascades into a rocky, tumbling synth and then re-opens into a calm break littered with lines reminiscent of children’s nursery rhymes, but with the attitude and power only Ora trades in. And to top it off, Rita Ora confounds her critics by using such a highly variant vocal set, which makes it a rather troublesome task for any comparisons to be made.
The vocal goes from a very slightly Rihanna-esque introduction, to a chorus that matches the power of her idol, Beyonce. The thing that makes Rita Ora unique is how she can graft the vocals of some of the best female singers in history onto her own style, and then revitalize them into a triumphant, modern day, synth-embodied animation, full of her characteristic attitude.
