Pixel Fist - Let Yourself Go EP
1. Let Yourself
Go2. Shots and Straps
Cover your
children’s ears folks, Pixel Fist are in the ring. Let Yourself Go seems to take inspiration from a rough spectrum of
sounds ranging from dentist’s drills and fire alarms to a new controversial
form of rehab. This song breaks the boundaries, spits on the ground, punches
you in the nose and then turns your speakers to rubble. By the end of the track
we have unanimously decided that Pixel Fist need to go to some anger management
classes.
The second
track on the EP is a nice little, grime record with a classic, underground
identity strongly churned through a hard, juddering bass grinder. Both tracks
have strong identities, one brimming with pushy, cocky, boisterous whines, while
the other exudes classic old school bass with a splash of hip-hop. The EP’s
flare and prowess make it easy to understand why Benga has given his seal of
approval and released it on his own label. Never mind the neighbours, after
playing this, you will have the whole neighbourhood at your door.
