Norman Doray & NERVO
ft Cookie –
Something To Believe In
Norman Doray
and NERVO seem to be wielding a huge arsenal of impossible weaponry on this collaboration.
Something To Believe In originates
from titanic turntables only to collapse into a series of drastic divine drops.
The purposeful and passionate production demonstrates magic melodies and turbo
charged, heart flat lining dimensions.
Most importantly
the song has an interesting, unconventional structure. The majority of current house
tracks have drops separated by intervening plateaux that are usually used to avoid
overdosing the listener with the best house sounds. Something To Believe In takes a different approach. The track is
constructed by a two minute long, epic build-up that finally breaks into a transfixing,
logic defying blast of pure house energy. This blast of energy then relapses
into a second wave almost immediately.
Not only does
this approach make it so infectious that you will be playing it non-stop for
the next hour, but it also shows refreshing and imaginative brilliance. The inclusion
of an arresting house lead, mixed with the angelic spine tingling notes emitted
by a nexus piano, give the track an iridescent yet seismic quality. All of this
is then finished off with an invigorating video that works in perfect harmony
with the song.
Interestingly,
the NERVO twins have not contributed their vocals on this track. Instead they
have fully dedicated themselves towards completing the engineering of the track
you see before you. Something To Believe In not only gives you an elevated sense of self-worth
and empowerment, but also provides a suitable stadium anthem for the gods.
