Clean Bandit - Dust Clears

Dust Clears is the next release from the British band and follows UK top 20 single, Mozart’s House. The track is a huge breath of fresh air in a summer currently full of EDM anthems and upbeat pop songs. This original number is fitted with a vast array of components. It starts with a wandering croon, which glides remotely through the opening sequence, with an emotional ambience vaguely reminiscent of James Blake. The atmosphere created is later accompanied by a finite note that carefully and methodically builds the subtle emotional solidarity. Once this design has been deftly assembled, it moves on and slowly but surely evolves with the addition of a sincere heart-enthralling piano.

What Clean Bandit do next however is quite clever. After building this emotive graduation, they let it fade away and instead introduce a ‘glitchy’, almost agitated section, highlighted by a light drum tick and escorted by a silky sweet female vocal. Ultimately the primary indulgence we take from the composition, as with any song, is the main chorus. It is this platform where they unleash a flourish of instruments, which dance charismatically against a backdrop of glowing classically-inclined violin strings and funky bass guitar.

Indeed even the lyrics say “you'd been living in a world of your own design, undermined,
In another place other space in time” and that is exactly what has been reflected in this music video. The video is an artistic and creative work that seems to be set in a slightly alternative form of existence compared to normal life. Despite being mainly directed by themselves, it has been expertly edited and whittled down to a fine finish, encompassing the beauty of amazing scenery and the setting sun, displaying the inventive scope of the ice-skateboard and showing the occasionally eccentric goings on of a workshop.

With Dust Clears, Clean Bandit have truly outdone themselves. The song and its corresponding video are a gripping affair, displaying dynamic texture and delivering the full package.
