Deadmau5 ft Gerard Way-
Professional Griefers

This is the next single taken from Deadmau5’ upcoming album, Album Title Goes Here, and follows the huge success of his previous single, The Veldt. Unlike its predecessor, Professional Griefers steers clear of the classic Deadmau5 sound found in The Veldt and instead goes for an electronic type of rock sound. It uses a beat similar to the material found in 4x4=12 and includes guitar-like synths that are simple yet detailed.

The vocals provided by Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance create this new sound that does not become similar to the Deadmau5 and Rob Swire’s collaboration in Ghosts ‘N’ Stuff. In Professional Griefers, the rock theme is more prominent and is mixed into the electronic Deadmau5 sounds perfectly.

The video is the highest budget electronic music video yet and it boasts crazy animations, two months of work and roughly 2,000 fans. The video smashes into action with a wrestling inspired theme, but instead of the fighters being of the human kind, they are actually giant robot mice. The visuals collide with the song’s rough style and give life to a captivating and action packed narrative. It swings an adrenaline fuelled punch and a great surprise kick.

Professional Griefers masterfully combines two genres into a unique and interesting collision. The Veldt might have been a hard single to follow but this unhinged, manic song will definitely suffice.

  1. This track actually is so rare because it sounds rock but the artist is known for electronic sounds. This just defines more anything is possible when it comes to music :) And the video meanwhile indicates the fact anything is also possible when it comes to music videos. :D
