Cover Drive ft Dappy - Explode

Cover Drive’s rise to fame seems to have been exceptionally rapid with three top ten hits in the UK chart and a top twenty album in the bag within just a year. Their new single, Explode is the fourth single taken from their debut album, Barbadian Style and sees them team up with rapper, Dappy. Cover Drive supported Dappy on his Rock Star tour last winter and his appearance in the single version of Explode is sure to help it blast its way through the charts.

Explode uses a similar beat structure to number one hit, Twilight and top five smash, Sparks but with the addition of more punchy drum beats. Explode is produced by Steve Mac who also produced Sparks, which helps explain the similarity in beat structure and tone. The video also follows a similar style to their previous singles, but has an interesting theme, hinting in some ways at their novice status in the pop world.

Overall the new single is a great, relaxed summer song but does not contribute anything particularly different to the previous singles and also Dappy could have been included in the chorus rather than just featuring with a rather weak rap.
