Laidback Luke ft Martel – We Are

The Stars

This is the new single from graffiti artist turned producer, Laidback Luke. The Dutch producer who was born in the Philippines has been a pioneer of house music in recent year, cracking the top forty of multiple countries around the world.

We are the Stars is an uplifting piece that gives a more mainstream follow up to house monster 1234, his last single. The song is surprising, especially from the start, with its apparent soulful qualities but then the characteristic Laidback Luke beats come and combine with the vocals to create an epic rave tune. The vocal is slightly similar to that used by Swedish House Mafia on Save the World, where the vocals are used to add a sense of epic euphoria, to the deep, rich bass sounds of the house production.

The video does not require a huge amount of inventive or financial strain but it supplies raw, happy, energy that is purely representing enjoyment of the music. This is Luke’s best single since his collaboration with Example on Natural Disaster but the downside is that it can get a bit boring after a while.
