Alesso ft Matthew Koma
- Years
After being
number one on Beatport for well over a week, it only seems suitable that we
look into this ground-breaking track. Alesso comes fresh from working with
Swedish House Mafia’s Sebastian Ingrosso and has over the past year put himself
well and truly on the map. He has remixed for the likes of Keane and
collaborated with Dirty South.
Matthew Koma
has contributed vocals for the newest music by Zedd and Fedde le Grand. The
singer’s natural flair to adapt his vocals to multiple house melodies and
ability to revitalize and enhance the genre is inescapable. The resulting
outcome, in the form of Years, sees
the birth of an exhilarating piece that alleviates pressures of the outside
world and induces a state of clear clarity and solidity.
Piano notes shape
the house melodies into wondrous tunnels of crystal like the sound of a
rollercoaster smashing into a hundred chandeliers. The track, like the theme
park ride, spins around with elaborate changes of pace and fast climaxes of
house, but unlike a rollercoaster it doesn’t make you scream, but leaves you uplifted and empowered. The vocals flow around you with wispy tendrils wrapping
you in their soft comfort and then finally collapse into the sound of breaking
waves.
Years has been sculpted and nurtured into a
beautiful piece of art which conjures an ambience of accumulative strength. It
applies a soft touch, with sedate vocals and clarion piano notes, and then expands
to the controlled pound of Alesso’s centrepiece production.

OMG I'm loving the similes you used here especially for the piano notes because I can really imagine the same picture (ie. a hundred chandeliers LITERALLY) Great song, and great review of it. Nice job.
