Sub Focus ft Alpines – Tidal Wave
After the huge success of Sub Focus’ last single, Out the Blue, the producer had a big challenge ahead. The mission would be to craft a respectable dubstep tune while making a song capable of the commercial success that the genre deserves. He succeeded.
The song smashes through with a tidal wave of unsuppressed power that floods the listener's mind with a whirlpool of reverberating sounds that break into dubstep basses. The tune rockets along at a shocking pace leaving no time to take breath and takes you on an extreme adventure from the peaks of crescendo excellence to troughs of underlying subtlety. There is the very slightest taste of metal-rock in the production, evoking a live performance spirit hidden in the depths.
Alpines’ vocals cascade through the production, yielding piercing, high toned qualities that are on a scale somewhere between perfect and profound. The fact that the production was made around the vocal, rather than the other way round, accounts for the unique and superior design. It is bold to say that Sub Focus has surpassed his previous work, but in all honesty he has. With stunning vocals, paralysing light synths and mind-numbing basses, the world will stand in awe at the tidal wave that surges through their loudspeakers.

  1. I also strongly believe the real attraction on this track are the basses. And if the one who did this review couldn't decide whether or not the vocals in this are perfect, well for me they are perfect! I haven't still set aside my liking to Out the Blue so I must say both that and this new track are my favorite Sub Focus tracks. :)

The smoker you drink, the player you get ... and yes - pump up the volume. The louder, the better. And yes, starting with the lyric/vocal rather than the 'beat' demonstrates that people are needed in this genre, not only technology.
