Lady Gaga - Applause

Lady Gaga is a woman who needs no introduction. Her record breaking sales figures leave behind a trail of chart devastation, her countless controversial outfits parade across the pages of the press and her music provides constant inspiration for millions of music fans around the world. The mother monster has given birth to numerous hit records, but in our opinion, Applause is her best yet.

Applause is everything you would expect for a Gaga comeback single. It’s triumphant, thrilling, explosive, bold and different. The popstar gives the song her characteristic sweeping vocal range, flowing from dark textured chants to deftly soft croons to underscoring sonic echoes, each being adopted as easily as a second skin.

There are two elements that bring this tune well and truly to life however. The first is Gaga’s sensational genre defining choruses, which she wields with both steady certainty and sweet sincerity. The second is the celestial dance-pop productions of DJ White Shadow. The beat has been crafted into a highly polished masterpiece starting as a melodramatic rumble before turning into thunderous climaxes wrought with ricocheting applause, and finished by a victorious flourish of euphoric synths.

Gaga has made a triumphant return to pop, unleashing unstoppable dance productions, a fiercely robust and dynamic vocal and an intelligent lyrical message, giving us a single that will no doubt become a worldwide hyper-hit.
