Hayden James - Permission To Love

Australia based Hayden James is pretty new to the music world but is already causing a stir with this future classic. The mainframe of the song is quite a minimalist one. Instead the magic happens on a more discrete level, buoyed by funky flicks, swirls and undulations, synth-driven grooves and spiralling stellar sound effects. Hayden James has also added a kaleidoscopic range of vocal samples that helter-skelter through the spacy wandering synth. These fuel the sexy velvety tone and help break up an otherwise linear structure.

Additionally, the music video continues the slick tone of the song itself, while also being entertaining. The release comes with two remixes – the ghostly Touch Sensitive remix and the light, more fluctuant Charles Murdoch remix. Permission to Love is a brilliant well-oiled four minutes of silky and spacy grooves in what proves an ingenious first step for James.
