DaWood ft Jodie Connor - Redlights

Redlights is the next summer banger brought to you by DaWood, producer for the likes of Little Nicki & Roll Deep and one of the men behind 2012 anthem, Come With Me. This new laid-back sun-kissed tune sees the beatsmith take centre stage. For vocal duties, however, he brings in long term collaborator Jodie Connor, who jumps on the song with one of her most confident performances. Her firm and distinct tone strongly stands out in the verses, while during the chorus and drop they electronically converge with the production to create a flurry of dance beats and sonic notes.

This track is built upon a central mainframe of dance productions but influences from other genres can also be found. Connor’s vocal gives Redlights a strong mainstream spin, propelling it closer to the realms of pop and RnB. Meanwhile, the production is home to a crunchy kick drum, normally found in garage. These different strands entwine within a wave of chipper dance beats bound by punchy drum patterns and crowned by Connor’s bold vocals – forming a great easy-going summer tune.
